Environment informs design

Over the past year, independent ecologists have been completing detailed environmental studies at the site of the proposed Marulan Gas Fired Power Station. Their findings play a critical role in shaping our designs, helping us understand the land and ensuring the project footprint avoids or minimises potential impacts wherever possible. Protecting the Wollondilly River and local wildlife continues to guide our planning. Community feedback has already helped refine aspects of the design — such as adjusting access roads and construction areas to better protect plants and animals.

What happens now?

We’ve submitted an EPBC Act referral so these environmental findings can be independently assessed by the Australian Government. This is an early, standard process to ensure environmental impacts are properly considered before any construction decisions are made.

For everyone’s safety — and to protect sensitive habitats — the site remains fenced and off-limits.

We’ll continue keeping the community updated as the assessment progresses. You can read more about in our - March/April Community Newsletter.pdf

Energy Australia acknowledges that the site of the proposed Marulan Gas Fired Power Station project is on the traditional Country of the Gandangara People. We recognise their continued connection to land, waterways and community, and we pay our respects to Elders past and present.
